We are obsessed with creativity!
We eat, breathe, and talk about it (a lot!) Over the years we’ve found that we’re not alone – many of you share our obsession! Yours are the families who love to DIY what they can, who encourage creative and critical thinking in their little ones, who, as adults, work to continue developing their own sense of wonder, curiosity, and yes, creativity.
So what is Crafting Connections? Well, we’re just two women dedicated to offering practical inspiration, creative support, and real glimpses into the lives of creative folks and families. And we do it all to help make living a creative family life just a little bit easier for you. To bring your love of all things creative into the rhythm of your home in an authentic, stress-free manner. We’re dedicated to providing families with the tools and inspiration for living creative lives and raising curious & creative children.
We publish stories and DIY’s on our blog, offer weekly inspiration for creative families via email, and publish an exclusive Creative Journal for our dedicated readers (you can sign up free HERE). And there’s so much more in the works – all with the focus on supporting your creative life and family.
More of the story…
Crafting Connections was first conceived in March 2012 by us – Andrea Folsom and Danielle Reiner – two friends, artists, and mamas. What began as a quarterly creative print and digital magazine for a few, has now blossomed into a full online creative magazine for many.
Crafting Connections is based on three main beliefs:
– that everyone can be creative
– that crafting doesn’t have to be hard to be meaningful
– that creativity is a necessary part of life
Crafting Connections offers practical inspiration such as DIYs, tutorials, and recipes, creative support for beginners to the world of crafting with kids, artists now working to bring art to their little ones, and anyone working on raising a creative family, and real glimpses into the lives of creative folks and families, all different but beautiful and successful in their own ways.
Even more than these three important focuses, we aim to bring you passion. We have a litmus test (really!) for each post and project – do we feel inspired and will it inspire others? If we can’t answer yes, then it doesn’t get posted, plain and simple. There is so much noise these days on the web – we don’t want to contribute to the noise, instead we want to be that song you love.
Meet Andrea & Danielle
I’m Andrea. I like to describe myself as a writer, editor, creative maker, and eternal optimist. I’ve been an artist all my life – drawing, painting (really any kind of creating) have always been the tools I turn to in times of joy, sadness, and everything in between. I am passionate about learning and sharing new creative techniques, making beautiful spaces, and talking about the social-emotional benefits of creativity and art. You can find a bit of my personal art HERE.
I currently live in Chicago with big dreams of moving back to New England (and its heavenly maple syrup) with my husband, daughter, son, and our big old Great Dane.
I’m Danielle. I would describe myself as a creative, a maker, and a mama. But of course, I’m so much more. At the heart of my story is creativity, though that hasn’t always been the case. I rediscovered my deeply hidden creativity early in adulthood – with a ball of yarn and a couple of knitting needles – and I haven’t stopped since. For more than a decade I’ve been living creatively. Working with my hands. Making things for me. For my home. For my friends and family. And, in the last handful of years, to sell. You can find a bit of my personal art HERE.
Last year I moved from Chicago to just outside of San Francisco and am loving raising a creative California family with my husband, two sons, and our new curious kitten.
This is just a bit of who we are and what we do. We’d love to continue to connect with you through our Inspiration for Creative Families, weekly emails that come out each Sunday morning from our homes to yours with practical inspiration, real glimpses, and loads of creative support for living and raising a creative family. Join Inspiration for Creative Families here.
And finally, thank you. We appreciate every email, every comment, and every way you connect with us, for it is you – our readers – that inspire us to do what we do.
